Coraline Box #42 (plus more)

The makers of Coraline sent out 50 handmade boxes to some of their favorite bloggers. Each box is unique and includes items from the movie. Box #42 belongs to Cory Doctorow of BoingBoing and features shoes:

You can see the rest of the boxes I've found to date here.

In other Coraline news:

2. Here's a button box etching.

3. Roger Ebert described the core audience for Coraline:
Selick is as unconventional in his imagery as Gaiman is in his writing, and this is a movie for people who know and care about drawing, caricature, grotesquerie and the far shores of storytelling.
I'd say that pretty accurately describes the people who received the Coraline boxes.

4. And finally, yes, you can enter the password at Coraline.com to try to win a pair of Nike Dunks. And no, I'm not going to post the password here, or answers to the multiple choice questions. I will say that you should examine Coraline's bedroom closely.

Thanks everyone for the tips.

There's a detailed review of the bendy Coraline dolls here. As you can see, the paint on the nose rubs right off.

More Coraline concept art (plus more)

Coraline artist Jon Klassen has posted concept art featuring circus mice.

Also, Henry Selick makes the clearest statement I've seen as to who he thinks should see the film:
Well, first off, it’s a PG film, not a G film. The parent knows best, but we don’t think most kids under eight should see this film. One of my producers will hate me for saying that, but we’ve always said, this is not for really young children; it’s too scary for them. Another thing we say is, well it’s for brave children of all ages. Leave the scaredy cats at home.

Coraline reminds me in many ways of Return to Oz, which I saw when I was 8. It scared me quite a bit, but I promptly insisted on getting a copy of the book, so...

Coraline Button Box on sale at eBay?

There's a button box from Coraline's Other Mother on sale at eBay, although the description strikes me as a little strange:
By way of good luck and an error on the end of the Laika company I managed to receive TWO of these boxes so, with a mixture of greed and kindness, I am putting the second one here for someone else to enjoy.

You will reveive [sic] the button box and the envelope containing the letter from The Other Mother.
Thanks to the tipster.
