Coraline news roundup

1. Mary Robinette Kowal interviewed Coraline puppeteer Lance Woolen. Among other things, he spoke about perfectionism:
In animation on this scale, if you can see any nick or flaw of any kind, fix it before getting approval for a finished item. I lived in my magnified head goggles up to nine hours a day. More than once, I came home in a fit of depression thoroughly convinced that I was ruining the movie because I was such a ham-fingered clod. In the end, we would poke each other when we caught a flaw, then laugh at the poor sap who missed one little thing that you will never see because it's so small.

2. The Coraline soundtrack will be available as a digital download from web merchants starting February 3, and will be in stores February 24. You can listen to the tracks, including "Other Father Song" by They Might Be Giants at Amazon.

  1. Thank you so much for posting the link to the songs. I'm a soundtrack nut.

Also, about the dolls spotted @ Disney's Virgin Megastore. It is true. I bought the raincoat version.

I have also figured out that the pictures you see of the dolls in the adds are in fact pictures of maquettes from the film.

I'll upload pictures of Coraline on flickr later and send you a link. I have pictures of the packaging and box.

But again THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SOUNDTRACK LINK!

*squishes* This blog and your dedication are amazing. I have you linked off of my LiveJournal and check you every single day. And then post about what I find. It's driving my friends nuts.

    And I babbled. Sorry.

  15. did you make forcible too? or was it too inapropriate for you?

    ReplyDelete
  16. nope I made her too. She is in her venus costume and she unzips which my family thought was quite disgusting but i thought she was lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  17. and I too think other dolls from neca would be great. Now if I worked for neca i would make the other mother and she could sort of be turned inside-out from beautiful to monstrous and I would also make a bobinski that opens to be filled with red-eyed rats and miss forcible and miss spink that un-zip and well, you get the point.
